Life Flows On: Film Review By Shivam Bajaj

Image result for Life Flows OnStarting in the beautiful Latur district of Uttarakhand, this Tom Alter starter “Life Flows On” produced and directed by Vishaal Nityanand is an exemplary piece of work by the director himself, throwing light on a sensitive topic like “Alzheimers” is not something to be seen very often and not even in a day to day cinema. The film focuses on the problem of Alzheimer's through a feature style but yet will be considered as realism and not realism gives its viewers a clear picture of what the film has to offer. Making it a blend with information and that too with a story to be told along with it is not something every storyteller can do. The film also focuses that even after the figure of Dementia patients to be 3.7 million in India our governments and decision-makers are still not aware of the situation and hence not ready to discuss it in the parliament as well and hence remains un-noticed. This piece of art also focuses that how does the protagonist’s daughter on her own gets herself involved with the system to educate governments and even handles the situation of her mother (later proved to have Alzheimer) too effectively and efficiently.  Apart from discussing Alzheimer's & Dementia, the film also focuses on how does budget allocations affect the awareness creation of any particular problems and how our political systems fail to execute due to lack of knowledge on any particular issue.  While with the memory fluctuations of the protagonist shows that how can such situations be handled efficiently. The way in which the old man was portrayed in the film who was also later proved to be with Alzheimer's added a great level of sensitivity molded in the form of emotions in the film. Society needs more films like this one to throw light on such issues. Overall a perfect blend of emotion knowledge can be complemented to this.
